Philips lighting products have a long history rooted in the Netherlands, where the brand was founded by Gerard Philips and his father Frederik in 1891. Originally a manufacturer of carbon-filament lamps, the brand grew into a global conglomerate in the electronics and healthcare sectors.
In 2016, the lighting division was spun off into a separate entity originally named Philips Lighting, which was later rebranded as Signify N.V. in 2018. Although the brand name 'Philips' is still used under license for lighting products, the ultimate owner is Signify, headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Today, manufacturing for Philips-branded LED bulbs occurs in multiple global locations to serve different markets efficiently. Significant production facilities are located in China, Poland, and Mexico, among others, depending on the specific product line and target consumer region.
