Whirlpool is a legacy American brand founded in 1911 in Saint Joseph, Michigan. For over a century, it has been a global leader in home appliances. While the brand is famously rooted in the United States, its manufacturing footprint is massive and international, with factories in the USA, Italy, Poland, and Mexico producing units for both domestic and foreign markets.

In recent years, the structure of Whirlpool's European operations has undergone a major shift. In 2024, Whirlpool Corporation completed an agreement with Arçelik (a Turkish appliance powerhouse), merging their European businesses into a new entity called Beko Europe. In this new arrangement, Arçelik's subsidiary owns 75% of the entity, while Whirlpool retains 25%. This means that for appliances sold in Europe, the operational management and production are largely under the umbrella of Beko Europe, though the brand remains one of the most recognizable American trademarks in the world.
