While Douwe Egberts was previously well-known for coffee and tea, its tobacco division was eventually acquired by Sara Lee. In a major consolidation within the tobacco industry, Imperial Brands (formerly Imperial Tobacco) acquired the international rights to the brand.

Today, Drum is manufactured primarily in the Netherlands and distributed globally by Imperial Brands. Despite changes in corporate ownership, the brand remains a dominant player in the roll-your-own market, maintaining its historical association with Dutch blending traditions. The packaging shown features health warnings in Slovenian, suggesting it is a product destined for the Balkan or Central European markets.
