OLW is a staple of Swedish snack culture, particularly famous for its 'Fredagsmys' (Friday coziness) marketing campaigns. Founded in 1967 as a joint venture between Wasabröd and Borden Foods, it has grown to become Sweden's leading snack brand. The classic salted peanuts remain one of their core product offerings.

The brand is currently owned by Orkla, a Norwegian industrial conglomerate that acquired the remaining shares of the company in the early 2000s. While OLW operates its primary production facility in Filipstad, Sweden (notably for its famous Cheez Doodles and potato chips), larger-scale nut processing for the Scandinavian market often involves facilities across the Orkla Confectionery & Snacks network in the Nordic region.
