Lätta margarine spread

Lätta is a popular brand of low-fat margarine spread that originated in Sweden in 1984. It was specifically developed as a lighter alternative to traditional butter and high-fat margarines, quickly becoming a staple in European households, particularly in Germany and Scandinavia.

Throughout its history, Lätta was part of the Unilever portfolio. However, in 2018, Unilever sold its entire spreads division to the private equity firm KKR. This led to the creation of Upfield, the current parent company. Upfield is now the world's leading producer of plant-based spreads and margarines.

Lätta is produced in several manufacturing facilities across Europe to serve local markets efficiently. While it maintains its Swedish brand identity through its name (which means 'easy' or 'light' in Swedish) and blue-themed packaging, the ultimate corporate ownership is now headquartered in the Netherlands via Upfield.
