Guild Guitar

Guild Guitars is an iconic American brand with a storied history in the music industry. Originally established in New York City in 1952 by Alfred Dronge and George Mann, the brand gained a reputation for manufacturing high-quality archtop, hollow-body, and acoustic guitars that were used by legendary artists such as Richie Havens and Nick Drake.

Over the decades, the brand's manufacturing has moved through several locations, including Hoboken, New Jersey, and Westerly, Rhode Island. For a period beginning in 1995, Guild was owned by the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, during which time production shifted between various U.S. facilities and some overseas lines were introduced.

In 2014, the brand was acquired by the Cordoba Music Group, who moved U.S. production to a state-of-the-art facility in Oxnard, California. In early 2023, the Yamaha Corporation acquired Cordoba Music Group, making Yamaha the ultimate owner of the Guild brand. Today, premium Guild models continue to be hand-crafted in the United States, while other series are produced in international facilities in China, IndonesiaGraph, and Korea to offer a wider range of price points for musicians globally.
