CamelBak is a pioneer in the hydration industry, famous for inventing the hands-free hydration pack. The brand's origin dates back to 1989 during a 100-mile bicycle race in Texas, where founder Michael Eidson created the first prototype using an IV bag and a tube. This innovation eventually revolutionized how athletes and outdoor enthusiasts consume water on the go.

While the brand was born in the United States, its manufacturing operations have expanded globally to meet demand. Most CamelBak products, including their popular BPA-free plastic and stainless steel water bottles, are manufactured in China. Some specialized equipment and reservoirs have also been produced in Mexico or the USA. Since 2015, the brand has been under the ownership of Vista Outdoor, a major American designer and manufacturer of outdoor sports and recreation products.
