Douwe Egberts is one of the most iconic coffee brands in the world, with a heritage dating back to 1753 in Joure, Netherlands. Founded by Egbert Douwes and later expanded by his son Douwe Egberts, the company grew from a small grocery shop into a global coffee powerhouse. The 'Excellent Blonde' variety shown here represents their premium 100% Arabica line, specifically roasted for a light and 'elegant' flavor profile that remains a staple in Dutch households.
Over the centuries, the brand's ownership has transitioned through several major corporate hands, including Sara Lee Corporation. Today, Douwe Egberts is the flagship brand of JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea giant formed by the merger of D.E Master Blenders 1753 and the coffee division of Mondelez International. While JDE Peet's operates roasting facilities globally to serve different markets, much of the production for the Western European market remains concentrated in the Netherlands.
