Norvasc (Amlodipine Besylate)

Norvasc is a widely prescribed prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and coronary artery disease. The brand was originally developed by the American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer during the 1980s. Following the expiration of its patent, it became one of the most recognized calcium channel blockers worldwide.

In 2020, Pfizer spun off its Upjohn division, which included off-patent legacy brands like Norvasc, and merged it with Mylan to create a new independent healthcare company called Viatris. Consequently, while the brand remains strongly associated with Pfizer's history, it is now owned and managed by Viatris. Manufacturing occurs in various global facilities to meet international demand, including major clinical production sites in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
