The brand is famous for its association with British-grown blackcurrants, as a significant portion of the UK's blackcurrant crop is dedicated specifically to the production of this drink.

The brand has undergone several ownership changes over the decades, most notably being a long-standing part of the Beecham Group and later GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In 2013, the brand was acquired by the Japanese multinational beverage company Suntory. Today, it remains a staple in British households, with manufacturing primarily centered at the Coleford factory in Gloucestershire, England.
