PeerTube

PeerTube is a free and open-source, decentralized, federated video platform powered by ActivityPub and WebTorrent. Unlike traditional video platforms owned by large corporations, PeerTube is developed as a community-driven project that allows anyone to host their own video instance. The origin of the software is rooted in the digital rights and free software movement, specifically starting with its creator, known as Chocobozzz.

Because PeerTube is open-source software, there is no single 'manufacturing' location. It is developed by contributors from around the world and hosted on servers globally by independent individuals and organizations. This decentralized nature ensures that no single entity has total control over the content or the infrastructure, promoting a more democratic internet ecosystem. The project is currently maintained and supported by Framasoft, a French non-profit organization dedicated to promoting decentralized and free digital services.
