Nastro Azzurro Premium Lager

Nastro Azzurro is a premium Italian beer brand first launched in 1963 by the Peroni brewery. The brand's name, which translates to 'Blue Ribbon', was inspired by the Blue Riband trophy won by the Italian ocean liner Rex in 1933. It was developed to provide a crisper and more refreshing alternative to traditional lagers, incorporating local ingredients like high-quality Italian maize from the Lombardy region.

While Birra Peroni was originally an independent Italian company, it underwent several ownership changes during the 21st century. It was acquired by SABMiller in 2003 and subsequently sold to the Asahi Group Holdings of Japan in 2016 as part of a divestment required for the AB InBev and SABMiller merger. Today, Nastro Azzurro remains a quintessentially Italian product, brewed primarily in Rome, Bari, and Padua, while operating as a key international brand within the Asahi global portfolio.
