La Tosca is an iconic Australian pasta brand with deep Italian roots. Founded in 1947 by Nello and Bruna Borghesi, Italian immigrants who moved to Melbourne in 1929, the brand began as a small-scale food processing operation in Bennett Lane. Originally producing canned vegetables and tomato concentrates under various labels, the family pivoted to handmade fresh ravioli in the early 1950s, successfully introducing authentic Italian pasta to the Australian market.

Over the decades, the business modernized, moving from manual production to advanced machinery imported from Italy. In 2016, the brand was acquired by the Algeri family, who have since significantly expanded its manufacturing capabilities in Brunswick, Victoria. Today, La Tosca is recognized as a premier producer of fresh and frozen gourmet pasta, combining traditional Italian techniques with modern Australian manufacturing standards.
