Kägi Classic chocolate wafer

Kägi Classic, originally known as Kägi fret, is one of Switzerland's most iconic chocolate snacks. The brand was founded in 1934 by Otto Kägi Sr. in Lichtensteig, Toggenburg, initially as a bakery. In 1952, the company began coating its specialty wafers with chocolate, and the signature 'Kägi fret' was officially launched in 1958.

Today, the product is still manufactured exclusively at the company's original site in Lichtensteig, Switzerland. Kägi maintains high quality by producing its own chocolate in-house and using regional Swiss ingredients such as flour and milk powder.

Ownership of the company remained within the Kägi family until 1996. After various acquisitions by Valora and Argos Soditic, the brand was acquired in 2010 by the Swiss investment company WM15 Holding AG, which is a subsidiary of Burger Söhne Holding AG. It remains a proudly Swiss-owned and Swiss-made brand.
