Carrera Eyewear

Carrera is a world-renowned eyewear brand founded in 1956 in Austria by Wilhelm Anger. Inspired by the legendary Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico, the brand initially specialized in motorcycle goggles and ski helmets. A major breakthrough occurred in 1964 when Anger patented Optyl, a revolutionary lightweight and durable plastic material that remains a cornerstone of the brand's high-performance products today.

In 1996, the brand was acquired by the Safilo Group, a leading Italian eyewear manufacturer. Since then, Carrera has transitioned its headquarters to Padua, Italy, and expanded its global presence significantly. While designs are often conceptualized in Italy, a large portion of the manufacturing is conducted in Safilo's specialized production facilities in the Henan province of China, with some premium collections still produced in Italy. The brand continues to be a favorite among athletes and celebrities, maintaining its heritage of pushing boundaries in both sports and fashion.
