The brand itself traces its origins back to 1903 in the United Kingdom, where it was originally founded by Guy Hugh Gilbey as a method for carbonating water in large homes.

Today, SodaStream is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., a global food and beverage giant headquartered in the United States. This ownership allows SodaStream to utilize authentic Pepsi flavoring recipes for its home carbonation line, promoting a more sustainable beverage consumption model by reducing single-use plastic bottle waste.
