Stabilo is a globally recognized German brand specializing in high-quality writing instruments, highlighters, and coloring products. Founded in 1855 as Grossberger & Kurz in Nuremberg, Germany, the company was acquired in 1865 by Gustav Adam Schwanhäußer, who transformed it into the Schwan Pencil Factory. The Stabilo brand name was officially launched in 1925, and today it remains a core part of the Schwan-Stabilo Group, a fifth-generation family-owned enterprise.

Manufacturing for Stabilo products is spread across three primary locations to serve the global market: Weißenburg in Germany (the main hub for highlighters like the famous Stabilo Boss), Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic (focused on wood-cased pencils), and Johor Bahru in Malaysia (specializing in ballpoint pens and regional production). The brand is ultimately owned by Schwanhäußer Industrie Holding GmbH & Co. KG, which also manages specialized divisions for cosmetics and outdoor gear (including brands like Deuter and Ortovox).
