CheapTickets.nl

CheapTickets.nl is a prominent online travel agency (OTA) based in the Netherlands, specializing in comparing and booking flights, hotels, and car rentals. The brand was founded in 2001 by Dutch entrepreneur Lex Beins as part of the Beins Travel Group. It was a pioneer in the Dutch market, becoming one of the first platforms to fully automate the flight ticket booking process, transitioning from physical ticket printing to digital delivery.

In 2011, CheapTickets.nl merged with several other travel brands, including Vliegwinkel.nl and BudgetAir, to form Travix International BV. This consolidation created the largest online travel group in the Netherlands. Although it shares a name with the American brand CheapTickets (which is owned by Expedia Group), CheapTickets.nl is a distinct entity with its own independent operational history.

In April 2020, Travix International was acquired by the Trip.com Group, a global leader in travel services headquartered in China. This acquisition integrated CheapTickets.nl into a vast international network, allowing it to leverage advanced technology and a broader inventory of travel products. Today, the brand remains headquartered in Amsterdam, operating as a subsidiary under the Trip.com Group umbrella.
