Rover brand cars

The Rover brand is a historic British automotive marque with roots dating back to 1878 as a bicycle manufacturer. The brand transitioned to car manufacturing in 1904 and became one of the most prominent names in the British motor industry. Over the decades, it was part of various conglomerates, including British Leyland and the Rover Group.

Following the collapse of the MG Rover Group in 2005, the production of Rover-badged cars ceased. The rights to the Rover trademark were purchased by Ford in 2006 to protect the Land Rover brand, and subsequently transferred to Tata Motors in 2008 as part of the Jaguar Land Rover acquisition. While the Rover car brand remains dormant as of 2026, its legacy continues through Land Rover, which has expanded its manufacturing footprint from its traditional base in the United Kingdom to include facilities in Slovakia, China, India, and Brazil.
