Zespri is a world-renowned brand synonymous with high-quality kiwifruit. Originally founded in New Zealand, the brand was established in 1997 as a grower-owned cooperative to market the country's kiwifruit exports globally. The organization evolved from the New Zealand Kiwifruit Marketing Board to become Zespri International Limited, maintaining its headquarters in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.

While the brand is deeply rooted in New Zealand, Zespri employs a 'Global Supply' strategy to ensure its kiwifruit is available to consumers year-round. This involves licensing professional growers in various northern hemisphere locations, including Greece, Italy, France, and Japan. This specific product, as indicated on the label, was grown in Greece to satisfy demand during the New Zealand off-season. The Zespri System ensures that these international growers adhere to the same rigorous quality, sustainability, and organic standards as those in New Zealand.

Today, Zespri remains owned by around 2,500 current and past New Zealand kiwifruit growers. It is the world's largest marketer of kiwifruit, managing a significant portion of the global trade and continuing to invest heavily in innovation, such as the development of new varieties like SunGold and RubyRed.
