Nivrel is a boutique watch brand with a unique cross-border history, often referred to as the "German watch with a Swiss heart." The brand was originally founded in 1936 in the Swiss Jura region by the company Marvin. However, following the industry-wide quartz crisis, the brand lay dormant until 1993, when it was acquired by Gerd and Gitta Hofer.
The Hofers moved the brand's headquarters and production to Saarbrücken, Germany, where it continues to operate as an independent family-owned business. While the watches are assembled and finished in German workshops, they exclusively utilize high-quality Swiss mechanical movements, such as the ETA 2824-2 caliber visible in this specific model. The brand remains under the ownership of Gerd Hofer GmbH, maintaining its status as a specialized independent manufacturer in the luxury horology market.
