Schweppes is a historic beverage brand with a heritage dating back to 1783 when it was founded in Geneva, Switzerland, by Johann Jacob Schweppe. He pioneered the process of carbonating water to create the world's first bottled soft drink. The brand's ownership is uniquely fragmented globally. In Spain and many other parts of Western Europe, the brand is owned and operated by the Japanese multinational Suntory Group. This ownership was established in 2009 when Suntory acquired the Orangina Schweppes Group. Consequently, products sold in the Spanish market are manufactured locally by Suntory Beverage & Food Spain, ensuring they meet regional taste preferences and standards. In other parts of the world, such as North America or the UK, the brand is owned by different entities like Keurig Dr Pepper or The Coca-Cola Company, respectively.
