AChS-1 Soviet Aircraft Clock

The AChS-1 (АЧС-1) is a legendary mechanical aircraft clock that has been a standard instrument in Soviet and Russian cockpits for decades. Originally introduced in the late 1950s, these clocks were famously used in iconic aircraft such as the MiG-15, MiG-21, and Tu-95, as well as various helicopters like the Mi-8. The design is characterized by its high reliability under extreme conditions, featuring a built-in heater for low-temperature operation and a luminous dial for night visibility.

These timepieces were primarily manufactured by the Chelyabinsk Watch Factory, known as Molnija (meaning "Lightning"), located in the Ural Mountains. The factory was established in 1947 after being relocated from Moscow during World War II. Today, Molnija continues to produce the AChS-1 and its modern variants, while also repurposing the design for collectible wristwatches and desk clocks that celebrate Russian aviation heritage. The brand remains a symbol of precision and military-grade durability.
