Cupra, originally established as the high-performance division of the Spanish automaker SEAT, was launched as an independent brand in 2018. While Cupra has its roots deeply embedded in Martorell, Spain, where most of its design and engineering work takes place, its manufacturing is integrated into the broader production network of its parent organization. This means that while iconic models like the Formentor are built in Spain, others, such as the Born or the Tavascan, may be manufactured in facilities located in Germany or China respectively.

Today, Cupra is a prominent brand within the Volkswagen Group's portfolio. It sits alongside SEAT as part of the 'Brand Group Core' segment, benefiting from shared platforms and technologies across the German conglomerate. Despite its shared ownership, Cupra maintains a unique identity centered on performance and contemporary luxury.
