While the brand's stand mixers are famously assembled in the United States (Greenville, Ohio), most of its small countertop appliances, including toasters, are manufactured in China to maintain competitive pricing.

The brand was founded in 1919 by The Hobart Manufacturing Company. In 1986, it was acquired by the Whirlpool Corporation, which remains the ultimate owner today.
