Kleenex is one of the most recognized consumer brands in the world, specialized in disposable facial tissues. The brand was introduced in 1924 by the Kimberly-Clark Corporation in the United States. Originally, it was marketed as a cold cream remover, but it quickly evolved into the universal handkerchief substitute it is known as today.

Historically, Kleenex has been owned and manufactured by Kimberly-Clark. However, in a significant corporate shift announced in 2025, Kimberly-Clark entered a joint venture with the Brazilian pulp and paper giant Suzano. Under this agreement, Suzano holds a 51% majority stake in Kimberly-Clark’s international tissue and paper products business, while Kimberly-Clark retains 49%. This restructuring means that as of 2026, the brand's international operations are managed through this partnership, though Kimberly-Clark maintains its legacy connection and licensing.

Manufacturing takes place globally across dozens of countries to serve local markets efficiently. Facilities are located in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Notably, while the brand is a global leader, Kimberly-Clark announced an exit from the Canadian consumer tissue market in late 2023 due to profitability and logistical challenges.
