Jacobs Utvalgte Coffee

Jacobs Utvalgte is a premium private label brand owned by NorgesGruppen, the largest grocery retailer in Norway. The brand was launched in 2009, drawing inspiration from the historic 'Jacobs på Holtet' gourmet food house in Oslo, which NorgesGruppen acquired in 2004. Unlike the mass-market German 'Jacobs' coffee brand owned by JDE Peet's, Jacobs Utvalgte is a distinct Norwegian high-end range focused on gourmet quality and artisanal production.

The coffee is roasted and produced in Norway at the Joh. Johannson Kaffe roastery, one of the world's most environmentally friendly coffee production facilities. Located in Vestby, south of Oslo, the roastery operates on 100% renewable energy and is primarily constructed from wood. The brand is managed by Unil AS, a subsidiary of NorgesGruppen, and is sold exclusively through NorgesGruppen's retail chains, including Meny, Spar, Kiwi, and Joker. The ultimate ownership of the brand lies with NorgesGruppen ASA, which is controlled by the Johannson family, one of the most prominent families in the Norwegian food industry since the 19th century.
