Altromercato Bio Caffè is a flagship product of Italy's leading Fair Trade organization. Originally founded in 1988 in Bolzano as a cooperative known as CTM (Cooperazione Terzo Mondo), Altromercato has grown into a vast consortium of world shops. It operates as a social enterprise dedicated to providing fair compensation to farmers in the Global South. The brand remains under the ownership of its member organizations, maintaining a decentralized, cooperative structure that prioritizes social impact and environmental sustainability over traditional corporate profit models.
