Angel Soft is a prominent American brand of bathroom tissue that has become a household staple since its modern commercial launch in 1987. The brand's history actually traces back further to the Hudson Pulp & Paper company, which introduced Angel Soft facial tissues in 1944 and toilet tissue in 1952. Following the acquisition of Hudson by Georgia-Pacific in 1979, the brand was revitalized and reintroduced to the national market, eventually becoming one of the first paper brands to exceed $1 billion in annual retail sales.
The product is primarily manufactured within the United States across several facilities. Key production sites include the Georgia-Pacific Palatka plant in Florida, which operates around the clock to meet national demand. Other manufacturing hubs supporting the brand's supply chain are located throughout North America, ensuring the brand maintains its market position as a leading provider of value-tier bath tissue.
Ownership of Angel Soft rests with Georgia-Pacific LLC, which has been a subsidiary of Koch Industries since 2005. Under the stewardship of Koch Industries, the brand has undergone significant transformations, including a 2024 packaging redesign that replaced its long-standing photorealistic baby imagery with a 3D animated character named 'Angel'. This shift reflects a modernized marketing strategy aimed at simplifying the consumer experience while maintaining the brand's core promise of delivering a balance of softness and strength.
