Arnott's Cheds Crackers

Arnott's Cheds are a quintessentially Australian savoury cracker, known for their perforated texture and topping of cheddar cheese and salt. The brand's history dates back to 1865 when William Arnott, a Scottish immigrant, opened his first bakery in Newcastle, New South Wales. Over more than a century and a half, Arnott's has become a national icon in Australia, producing several of the country's most famous biscuits and snacks.

While the brand was under Australian family control for many years, it has undergone significant ownership changes in the modern era. In 1997, the company was acquired by the American food giant Campbell Soup Company. However, in 2019, Campbell sold the Arnott's Group to the global private equity firm KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) for approximately US$2.2 billion.

Today, Cheds crackers continue to be manufactured primarily in Australia, with Arnott's maintaining major production facilities in Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide. Despite the shift to international private equity ownership, the brand remains headquartered in Sydney and is managed as a core part of The Arnott's Group's regional food portfolio.
