Morphy Richards is a historic British brand that has become a household name for domestic appliances. Founded in 1936 in St. Mary Cray, Kent, by Donal Morphy and Charles Richards, the company initially produced electric fires and irons. Over the decades, it expanded into a wide range of kitchen and home electronics, becoming a pioneer in the UK's small domestic appliance market.
Today, while the brand maintains its British heritage and design center in the United Kingdom, manufacturing is primarily outsourced to facilities in Asia, specifically China, to leverage scale and global supply chains. The brand has undergone several ownership changes; it was a part of EMI and later GDA before being acquired by Glen Dimplex. In late 2022, the brand rights were acquired by the Chinese company Xinbao Electrical Appliances (often known as Donlim), which now serves as the ultimate owner and global manufacturer, furthering its reach in international markets.
