Pams is one of New Zealand’s most iconic and largest grocery brands, specifically serving as the private label house brand for the Foodstuffs cooperative. Established in 1937, the brand was originally created by Wholesale Merchants Ltd and has grown to become a staple in New Zealand households due to its focus on value and quality.
While the Pams brand is 100% New Zealand owned, its manufacturing locations vary significantly depending on the product category. For their olive oil products, Pams typically sources and bottles oil from major Mediterranean producing regions such as Spain and Italy, blending refined and extra virgin oils to achieve their 'Extra Light' profile. This allows the brand to maintain competitive pricing while sourcing specific ingredients from their most natural geographic origins before distribution to Pak'nSave, New World, and Four Square supermarkets.
Ownership of the brand remains firmly within Foodstuffs (NZ) Ltd, a New Zealand co-operative. This unique business model ensures that the brand's profits and governance remain locally centered in New Zealand, making it a key pillar of the domestic retail landscape.
