Opera Browser software

Opera is a multi-platform web browser originally developed by the Norwegian company Opera Software AS. While it began as a research project at Telenor, Norway's largest telecommunications company, it eventually became an independent software product. Over the years, Opera has transitioned through various owners and currently operates with significant engineering resources in Poland and China.

In 2016, the browser business was sold to a Chinese consortium led by Kunlun Tech Co., Ltd. Today, the browser is owned by Opera Limited, which is headquartered in Norway but is a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ, with its primary ownership linked to Chinese investment. The software is developed globally, utilizing data centers and development hubs across several continents to support its global user base and specialized features like its integrated VPN and ad blocker.
