While the brand was originally created by the dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina (formerly Riedel), the ownership landscape shifted in recent years. In 2022, the brand was acquired by the investment firm Aurelius Group. The production remains centered in the Netherlands, specifically at the historical Riedel production facility in Ede, maintaining its local heritage while operating under a private equity ownership structure.

The brand's name is a play on the Dutch word 'sinaasappel' (orange), literally translated as 'little orange.' It continues to be a market leader in the Benelux region, known for its focus on natural ingredients and diverse range of fruit-based beverages.
