Weber is a globally recognized brand synonymous with outdoor grilling, founded by George Stephen Sr. in 1952. The brand’s journey began in Chicago when Stephen, working at Weber Brothers Metal Works, cut a buoy in half to create the iconic kettle-shaped charcoal grill. This design revolutionized the industry by introducing a lid to control heat and flare-ups, a concept that remains central to the brand's identity today.

While the company spent decades as a private, family-owned business, it has seen significant shifts in ownership and scale. In 2010, the Stephen family sold a majority stake to BDT Capital Partners. After a brief period as a public company starting in 2021, BDT Capital Partners took the firm private again in 2023. In 2025, a major merger with Blackstone Products led to the formation of Weber Blackstone, creating a powerhouse in both the traditional grill and griddle markets.

Manufacturing remains rooted in the United States, with major facilities in Palatine and Huntley, Illinois. However, as the brand expanded, it adopted a global production strategy. While many premium models are still assembled in the USA using globally sourced components, entry-level series like the Spirit and certain accessories are manufactured in China, and a newer facility in Zabrze, Poland, serves the European market. For the 2026 season, the brand has further expanded into a smart ecosystem of IoT-connected grilling products.
