Uncle Ben's, which was officially rebranded to Ben's Original in 2020, is one of the world's most recognized brands of parboiled rice and related food products. The brand was originally inspired by a technique developed by British chemist Eric Huzenlaub and American businessman Forrest Mars Sr. in the 1940s to preserve the nutrients in rice through parboiling.
Today, the brand is owned by Mars, Incorporated, a major American multinational. While the brand has deep American roots, particularly with its historical manufacturing hub in Greenville, Mississippi, it is now produced in multiple locations globally including the United Kingdom and various parts of Europe to serve international markets. The 2020 rebranding was a significant move by the parent company to address racial stereotypes associated with the previous brand identity and logo.
