Kirkland Signature is the hallmark private-label brand of Costco Wholesale Corporation. Launched in 1995, the brand was named after Kirkland, Washington—the site of Costco's corporate headquarters at the time—to provide a unified, high-quality identity for its domestic and international store-brand products.
Rather than operating its own factories, Costco partners with established global manufacturers and national brands to produce items under the Kirkland Signature label. For instance, Kirkland Signature batteries have been confirmed as manufactured by Duracell, while various coffees are custom-roasted by Starbucks. This strategic 'white-label' model allows Costco to offer premium quality products at prices significantly lower than their branded counterparts. Because the product range spans from Italian-sourced olive oil and Canadian maple syrup to American-produced laundry detergents and electronics, the manufacturing origin is truly global, varies by specific item, and is typically disclosed on the individual product packaging.
