Cacaolat Original cocoa milkshake

Cacaolat is an iconic Spanish brand known for producing the world's first industrial bottled cocoa milkshake. Invented in Barcelona in 1933, it has remained a staple of Spanish breakfast and snack culture for nearly a century. The product is renowned for its secret recipe using high-quality cocoa beans.

Traditionally associated with the Catalonia region, the brand underwent significant ownership changes in the 2010s. For a decade, it was managed as a joint venture between the Spanish brewer Damm and the bottling group Cobega. However, in 2024, it was announced that the Idilia Foods group (the owners of ColaCao) would acquire a majority stake, integrating Cacaolat into one of Spain's largest food conglomerates. The product continues to be manufactured primarily in its state-of-the-art facility in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Barcelona.
