Slack

Slack is a leading cloud-based team communication platform that originated in Vancouver, Canada, before relocating its headquarters to San Francisco, California. It was originally developed as an internal tool by Tiny Speck, a company led by Stewart Butterfield during the development of an online game called Glitch. After recognizing the tool's potential, the company pivoted to launch Slack commercially in 2013.

In July 2021, Slack was acquired by Salesforce, Inc. in a major strategic move to integrate professional messaging with customer relationship management (CRM) software. While the software is developed primarily in the United States, it is utilized globally through cloud infrastructure and maintained by a distributed workforce. Today, Slack serves as a core component of the Salesforce 'Customer 360' ecosystem, helping businesses streamline workflows and internal communications.
