The brand originated within the Swedish cooperative movement, specifically under the Swedish Federation of Farmers. Today, the brand is owned by HKScan, a major Nordic food company. In 2024, a significant ownership shift occurred when HKScan's Swedish operations, including the Scan brand, were acquired by the Swedish agricultural cooperative Lantmännen. This transition ensures that the brand remains under Swedish ownership, maintaining its strong connection to the local agricultural sector and its commitment to Swedish meat production.
