Founded in London in 1706 by Thomas Twining, Twinings is one of the oldest and most prestigious tea brands in the world. Originally established at No. 216 Strand, London, it was a pioneer in introducing tea-drinking culture to the United Kingdom and holds the record for the world's oldest continually used commercial logo.
While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in English tradition, its manufacturing and sourcing are global. The Darjeeling tea leaves are sourced specifically from the Darjeeling region in India, but the final processing and packaging occur at various internal manufacturing facilities worldwide, notably in the UK, Poland, and China, to serve different international markets.
Since 1964, Twinings has been a subsidiary of Associated British Foods (ABF), a major British multinational food processing and retailing company. Under ABF's ownership, Twinings remains headquartered in London, maintaining its status as a quintessential British brand while expanding its footprint to over 100 countries.
