Balconi is a historic Italian brand founded in 1953 by Michele Balconi in Nerviano, near Milan. Originally a small artisan pastry shop, it specialized in the production of sponge cake-based snacks and tarts like the Crostatina. Today, the manufacturing is primarily concentrated in its large Italian facilities, ensuring the preservation of its 'Made in Italy' heritage.

Over the decades, Balconi grew into a significant industrial player. In 2015, the Italian company was acquired by Valeo Foods, an international consumer goods group headquartered in Ireland. Consequently, while the brand remains deeply rooted in Italian confectionery tradition and local production, its ultimate ownership sits within a global portfolio managed from Dublin.
