Paperblanks is a renowned brand of high-quality journals and planners, originally founded in Vancouver, Canada, by Hartley & Marks Publishers in 1992. The brand is famous for its intricate cover designs inspired by world art and culture, such as the 'Skybird' design by artist Nadya Sokolova shown here. While original creative work and design processes traditionally took place in Canada, the manufacturing of the physical books is primarily carried out in China to utilize specialized binding and printing techniques.
In early 2022, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when it was acquired by the Hachette Livre group, a global publishing powerhouse. This acquisition integrated Paperblanks into Hachette’s extensive international distribution network, while maintaining the brand's headquarters and creative identity in Ireland following a relocation from Canada. Today, Paperblanks operates as a premium subsidiary under the Hachette Livre umbrella.
