Marabou Fransk Nougat chocolate bar

Marabou Fransk Nougat is a classic Nordic confectionery product featuring an egg-based nougat filling with hazelnuts, coated in smooth milk chocolate. The Marabou brand was established in 1916 by the Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst, the founder of Freia, specifically to expand his chocolate business into the Swedish market. The brand quickly became a cultural icon in Sweden, known for its distinct yellow packaging and 'M' logo.

While originally a Swedish company, Marabou's ownership changed over the decades. In 1993, the brand was acquired by Kraft General Foods (later Kraft Foods). In 2012, Kraft Foods split into two companies, and Marabou became part of Mondelēz International, a global snack food giant headquartered in the United States. Today, while the Marabou brand remains deeply connected to its Swedish heritage, many of its chocolate bars, including the Fransk Nougat variety, are manufactured in Lithuania to serve the broader European market.
