Pleuger is a historic and globally recognized pioneer in the development of submersible motor pumps. Founded in 1929 by Friedrich Wilhelm Pleuger in Berlin, the brand is credited with inventing the glandless water-filled motor, which revolutionized groundwater management and drinking water supply systems. Following World War II, the company relocated its headquarters to Hamburg, Germany, which remains its primary engineering and production hub today.

Throughout its history, Pleuger has undergone several ownership changes, having been part of industrial conglomerates such as Dresser Industries and Flowserve. In 2018, the brand was acquired by the Flacks Group, a US-based private investment firm, which restored Pleuger as an independent entity. This acquisition aimed to revitalize the brand by returning to its heritage of high-quality German engineering while expanding its global presence. Today, the company operates manufacturing and service centers in Hamburg, Germany, as well as in Orléans, France, and various locations in the United States, serving sectors including mining, oil and gas, and municipal water management.
