Philadelphia Light spreadable cheese

Philadelphia is one of the world's most iconic cream cheese brands, originally created in 1872 by William Lawrence in New York. Despite its name, the brand was never produced in Philadelphia; it was named after the city to capitalize on its reputation for high-quality dairy products at the time. The brand was later purchased by the Phenix Cheese Company and merged with Kraft in 1928.

Today, the ownership of Philadelphia is split between two global food giants. In North America (USA and Canada), the brand is owned and operated by the Kraft Heinz Company. However, for the international market, including Europe and Italy, the brand is owned by Mondelēz International. This split occurred when Kraft Foods Inc. divided into two separate entities in 2012.

Manufacturing for the European market takes place in several locations to ensure freshness. Major production facilities are located in Germany (Fallingbostel) and France, which supply most of the European retailers, including those in Italy. The product seen here is the 'Light' version, specifically tailored for the Italian market with labeling that highlights a 40% reduction in fat compared to the original version.
