Microlax rectal solution

Microlax is a fast-acting micro-enema used for the treatment of constipation. The product was originally developed in Sweden in the early 1960s and received its first patent in 1965. Its formula, based on sodium citrate and sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, was innovative for its time, providing relief within 5 to 15 minutes.

Historically, the brand was part of the Swedish pharmaceutical company Pharmacia. Following a series of mergers and acquisitions in the pharmaceutical industry, the brand came under the ownership of Johnson & Johnson's consumer health division. In 2023, Johnson & Johnson completed the spin-off of its consumer health business into a new independent company named Kenvue.

Today, Microlax is manufactured in several locations globally to serve different markets. Key production sites include Famar Orléans in France and facilities in Sweden and Switzerland (Janssen-Cilag). Ownership of the brand currently resides with Kenvue Inc., headquartered in the United States.
