Girmi is an iconic Italian brand with a history dating back to 1919. Originally founded in Omegna, Italy, as 'La Subalpina', the company became famous in the 1950s for its blenders. The name 'Girmi' itself is a portmanteau of the Italian words 'girare' (to stir) and 'miscelare' (to mix).

While the brand is deeply rooted in Italian design and heritage, modern Girmi products are typically manufactured in various international facilities to maintain competitive pricing, though the design and quality control remain managed in Italy. The brand has transitioned through several owners over the decades, including a period under Allegheny Technologies and later Bialetti Industrie.

Since 2015, the Girmi brand has been owned by Trevidea S.r.l., a subsidiary of the Italian group Trevi. In 2024, Girmi was officially recognized as a 'Historical Brand of National Interest' by the Italian government, cementing its status as a staple of Italian industrial history.
