Soprole dairy products

Soprole, formally known as Sociedad Productores de Leche, is one of Chile's most iconic and established dairy brands. Founded in 1949 by a group of dairy farmers in the central region of Chile, the brand quickly became a household name for pasteurized milk, butter, and cheese. Over the decades, it pioneered innovations such as the first individual packaged yogurt in the country and expanded its portfolio to include desserts, juices, and margarines.

Historically, the brand saw a major shift in ownership when the New Zealand Dairy Board (which later became Fonterra) acquired a majority stake in 1986. Fonterra maintained control for over 30 years, significantly modernizing operations and expanding the company's export capabilities. In a major strategic move finalized in March 2023, the Peruvian conglomerate Grupo Gloria acquired Soprole from Fonterra. This acquisition integrated Soprole into one of the largest food processing groups in South America.

Manufacturing remains deeply rooted in Chile, with primary production facilities located in San Bernardo (Santiago), Los Ángeles, and Osorno. The brand continues to source its raw milk from over 200 local Chilean producers, maintaining its identity as a quintessential Chilean brand despite its international ownership.
