Shell is one of the world's largest energy companies, with a history spanning over a century. The brand's unique name originates from a London-based antique business started in 1833 by Marcus Samuel, who sold ornamental seashells. This evolved into an oil-exporting business, eventually leading to the formation of The "Shell" Transport and Trading Company in 1897. In 1907, it merged with the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company to form Royal Dutch Shell, a partnership that lasted until 2022 when the company unified its share structure and relocated its headquarters to London, becoming Shell plc.

Today, Shell operates as a vertically integrated energy giant, involved in exploration, production, refining, and marketing across more than 99 countries. Its manufacturing and refining operations are truly global, with major facilities in the United States, Singapore, the Netherlands, Germany, and Canada.
